Coalition welcomes the announcement today of Abigail Bradshaw CSC as the new Director-General of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).
Ms Bradshaw has been outstanding in her role as Deputy Director-General of ASD and Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and no one is better placed to take on the critical challenges facing Australia in the cyber domain as the new head of ASD. Ms Bradshaw has dedicated her professional life to the national security of Australia, and we look forward to the extensive experience Ms Bradshaw will bring in delivering the transformational REDSPICE project.
The Coalition would like to also thank Rachel Noble PSM for her exceptional leadership of ASD over the last five years. As the first woman to lead a statutory intelligence agency, Ms Noble’s time at ASD stands out as one of the most transformational in the directorate’s history through the delivery of the $10 billion REDSPICE project announced under the former Coalition Government.
Quotes attributable to The Hon Andrew Hastie MP, Shadow Minister for Defence, Defence Industry and Defence Personnel:
“Rachel Noble has served Australia with great distinction during sharp and sudden geopolitical changes. Her legacy is a transformed ASD—modernised and mission-focused—so that Australia can prevail in the cyber battles that we are fighting every single day.
“Abigail Bradshaw understands the structural cyber threats we face as a nation. I have every confidence she will hold fast to the ASD mission and protect our digital sovereignty.”
Quotes attributable to Senator James Paterson, Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security:
“Abigail Bradshaw is an outstanding choice for Director General of ASD. As Deputy Director General and Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre, no one is better placed to lead Australia’s fight in the cyber domain at this critical moment and deliver enhanced capability through REDSPICE.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to Rachel Noble for her exceptional leadership of ASD over the last five years. Rachel will go down as one of the most transformational leaders in the directorate’s history, particularly for championing and securing REDSPICE.”
